End the Arms Race, Not the Human Race!

Peace activists in the Rainbow Region of NSW are calling for a peace action
to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Aquarius Festival

The Channon Craft Market
Sunday 14 May.

The Channon Craft Markets

The action will be in the form of everyone forming a peace mandala on the grass at 12 noon.

Said peace and environmental performance artist Benny Zable, one of the organisers:
‘We will be standing in the centre of the Channon Market united,
expressing personally with each other and globally a commitment to developing a culture of peace and non-violence.

We are saying CARE FOR COUNTRY, resource humane needs,
not develop more weapons of mass destruction in an age of CLIMATE EMERGENCY!’

As it’s also Mother’s Day, organisers have lined up acts to entertain all ages,
9am onwards: including internationally-famous high wire artist Philippe Petit (who was also a feature at the Nimbin Aquarius Festival of 1973);
Mic Conway from Circus Oz; US-based troubadour Fantuzzi; local funsters Mirth Presents; Orkz Liz; Out of Order;
Bollywood Sisters; and Triple j Unearthed Leonards Slippers.

The iconic Rainbow Chai Tent completes the picture.

The evening will end with a monster drum circle of 50 drums –
one for each year to mark the Aquarius 50th anniversary – and firedancers.

Volunteer Harsha said: ‘Aquarius reminds us that peace and sustainability are the beating heart of the Rainbow Region. This is a tune we need to resonate with as a global community if we are to survive the challenges the future will bring.’

Entry to The Channon Craft Market is via gold coin donation.

In association with Friends of Aquarius, Nimbin Aquarius Foundation Inc and The Channon Craft Market Inc.
