Tenzin Choegyal & Cye Wood
Tenzin Choegyal has been on a life-long musical pilgrimage since his early years in Dharamsala, a refugee village in India.
Now based in Brisbane, he draws on his Tibetan nomadic roots to perform traditional vocals accompanied by his dranyen
(Tibetan lute) and lingbu (bamboo flute).
At the same time, he pushes the boundaries, exploring diverse musical styles both in the studio and on stage, along with an international cast of collaborators including Philip Glass and Laurie Anderson.
Cye Wood has also performed with numerous artists including Eartha Kitt, Lisa Gerrard, Tim Finn, Christine Anu and many others, and joins Tenzin for his 2023 Be the Ocean tour.
His unique improvisational style on violin blends perfectly with
Tenzin’s soaring vocals and the distinctive, spontaneous melodies of the Tibetan nomad. In a long list of music projects and collaborations Cye has contributed string arrangements and solo violin to numerous albums, dance performances and film
projects, including the ABC documentary series The Trail of Genghis Khan by Tim Cope.
